Hunting is the opposite of immediate gratification, it requires time, preparation, training. But just because you’re stuck in ambush hunting blinds doesn’t mean you have to be bored out of your mind. While some say that drinking is the best part of hunting, a real hunter will want to be cold and sober when the prey finally shows up.

So what can you do when there’s nothing to do?

Just because there’s nothing to kill doesn’t mean there’s nothing to shoot. Simply imagine you’re a bleeding-heart liberal working for National Geographic, and take a few snaps of your favorite critters.

Write

A lot of people dream of writing the great American novel. This could be the perfect time to create an outline for your book, story ideas, or just brainstorm on what you’d like to do. Since you won’t be keeping your eyes on the paper, chances are you won’t miss your target when the time comes. Make sure you stick to pen and paper, a laptop or a typewriter makes too much noise.
