(KATU) – A hunter was impaled by the antler of an elk he had just killed when he crashed an ATV on his way back to camp, the Crook County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to deputies, 69-year-old Gary Heeter, of Bend, was out hunting on Saturday with a group near Arrowwood Point.
