I have found some rather interesting similarities over the past few years in regard to the mass protests and the nearly inevitable mobs and riots that take place in cases like the Freddie Gray incident. To one degree or another, it all has to do with guns, or the lack thereof. When studying the events that have led to each of the full-scale riots that have occurred over the last seventy years, one thing has stood out: A fundamental lack of trust between a militant appearing state and an incrementally disarmed population.

Heeding one of the versions of the saying “God made all men equal, Sam Colt keeps them that way” is something that has always stuck out in my mind and it is one of the primary reasons why I have a safe full of guns today. It is also one of the primary reasons why I live in the part of California that I do; it has historically been very gun-friendly… (…And yes, there is such a place in California.)
