Hawaii: Firearms Permit Application Fee Increases Due to Implementation of the “Rap Back” System

Today, December 5, 2016, the Honolulu Police Department announced that the firearm permit application fee has increased to $42.00. This fee increase is one of the first effects of the provisions in Senate Bill 2954 which was signed into law last June. Under SB 2954, the existing registration requirement was expanded and law-abiding Hawaii gun owners, and visitors, are now entered into the federal “Rap Back” system, which is a biometric database managed by the FBI for continuous monitoring. …Read the Rest
