Handgun Recommendations for New Shooters

Some very solid advice from Chris Baker of Lucky Gunner on selecting handguns for new shooters.

Shopping for a defensive handgun can overwhelming, especially for newer shooters. Here are a few general guidelines and some specific recommendations to get you started.

You’ll note that Baker sticks to a few proven brands. All of his recommendations are reasonable, and he excludes some very common and very popular inexpensive brands due to a long track record of quality control issues by these unnamed companies. Put bluntly, these guns are much less expensive for a reason, and that reason is a much lower degree of quality control, typically combined with cheaper/less durable materials and generally less care in turning out a quality product.
