Han Solo’s Return of the Jedi blaster pulls down $550K at auction (VIDEO)

The Force is still strong when it comes to Star Wars weaponry, as proved in the auction of one of the most iconic film weapons of all time this weekend.
A film prop of smuggler Han Solo’s classic BlasTech DL-44 blaster brought the galactic sum of $550,000 at Julien’s Auctions Hollywood Legends auction event in Las Vegas on Saturday. While not the live-fire Mauser C96 “Broomhandle” pistol heavily modified by the English prop masters at Bapty & Co. for the original 1977 Star Wars film, the one that went to the block was a follow-on inert version made for 1983’s Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, for use by Harrison Ford, who played Solo.
The piece made it into the wild after the film’s prop master, Peter Hancock, gave it to Art Director James L. Schoppe along with some other props after the film wrapped and he has had it in his collection for the past 35 years.
In related news, an Episode VI-used Biker Scout blaster brought in a very decent $90,624 at the same event — or about the price of 180 Glock 19s.
