Police in Brooklyn, NY are searching for a gunman who shot a man walking past him on a busy sidewalk this afternoon, causing pandemonium and sending people fleeing Flatbush Avenue.

The shooting happened shortly after 2 p.m. near a Target store at the intersection of Fort Greene Place and Hanson Place, close to Barclay’s Center.

The victim, identified as 51-year-old Ellison Ingram of Queens, told police he was walking to the Atlantic Social eatery where he works as a chef when he observed an argument between two men arguing with another man on the sidewalk. Shortly after, one of the men pulled a gun from his waistband and opened fire.

“There were three guys arguing. The next thing I know, one of them pulls out a gun and starts shooting,” said Pamela Williams, who witnessed the shooting.

Deputy Chief Vincent DiDonato said the victim was shot in the ankle and was expected to survive.
