It’s official! Idaho Governor Butch Otter has signed SB 1389 into law, making it legal for Idahoans 21 years of age and older to carry a concealed gun without a permit.

“This is a great day for law-abiding gun owners in Idaho,” said Chris W. Cox, NRA-ILA executive director. “Now, the residents of Idaho can choose what method of self-defense suits them best no matter where they are in the state.”

SB 1389 states: “The legislature hereby finds that the people of Idaho have reserved for themselves the right to keep and bear arms while granting the legislature the authority to regulate the carrying of weapons concealed. The provisions of this chapter regulating the carrying of weapons must be strictly construed so as to give maximum scope to the rights retained by the people.”

The bill passed in both the state Senate (27-8) and House (54-15) despite efforts by Everytown for Gun Safety to hijack it’s path to the Governor’s desk.

“Once again the people have rejected Bloomberg’s gun-control agenda. It’s clear that Idahoans respect their Second Amendment rights and saw right through Bloomberg’s lies,” Cox said. “The people of Idaho are safer today with Gov. Otter’s signature on SB 1389.”
