Good Samaritans Hold Gunman At Gunpoint After He Fired On Another Person

ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO — Two good Samaritans held a gunman at gunpoint after an apparent dispute over drugs until police arrived. It happened Thursday near a 7-Eleven when the two armed citizens made the decision to intervene.

Officer Tanner Tixier said 32-year-old Eugene Padilla and another man were fighting over drugs near the 7-Eleven at Wyoming and Candelaria NE when Padilla fired several rounds shooting the man and nearly striking several passersby.

When police arrived they found the victim had been shot in the leg, and two people were holding another man, later identified as Padilla, at gunpoint, Tixier said.

The victim was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg, and the two armed citizens were briefly detained until police could sort everything out.

Padilla, a convicted felon, was arrested and will be charged with “aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and numerous counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.”

When happening upon any situation, it’s difficult to make out exactly what is happening. This particular case, however, was also involving innocent bystanders who could have easily been hit with Padilla’s bullets as he fired at the victim.
