Speer is building on its reputation as a quality manufacturer of duty handgun ammunition with the new Gold Dot G2, which features a next-gen bullet design and is now being delivered to law enforcement dealers.

According to the press release, the new Gold Dot G2 has a shallow dish filled with a high-performance elastomer, rather than a large cavity in the nose. On impact, the material is forced into specially designed fissures in order to begin the expansion process. This is in contrast to conventional bullet designs, which require target media to enter the hollow point and create expansion forces. The result is uniform expansion, and more consistent penetration across barrier types, gun platforms and barrel lengths.
