Eric and Chad with IV888 took advantage of the better weather to run a 99-year-old German 8mm with iron sights and ball ammo to a gong some six football fields down range.
More than 9 million of Paul Mauser’s GEW98’s were made through World War I and went on to see service not only with the Germans but also the Czechs and Israelis into the 1950s. Eric’s example was passed on to the Turks and still shoots well despite its service while Chad’s rifle, which has a good bit of bore erosion, maybe not so much.
