GOA Files FOIA Request re DHS’ “Disinformation Governance Board”

Washington, D.C. – Today, Gun Owners of America (GOA) and Gun Owners Foundation (GOF) filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) asking key questions in response to the Biden Administration’s plans to create a “Disinformation Governance Board.”
In Congressional hearings this past April, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas stated that DHS was in the process of creating a Disinformation Governance Board. Soon after, the public found out that the Board will be chaired by left-wing dystopian author Nina Jankowicz.
GOA and GOF’s FOIA request demands specific records related to:
The processes used to select members of the Board and its staff
The methods, rules, procedures, or limitations on how the Board will surveil the American people
How any purported “disinformation” will be corrected, limited, refuted, or removed, and its purveyors sanctioned, intimidated, punished, fact-checked, or otherwise policed by the Board
Whether Elon Musk’s offer or attempt to purchase Twitter was considered in establishing the Board
Conversations regarding the proposed Board between DHS personnel and specific individuals including Mark Zuckerberg, Barack Obama, the National Security Agency, and news networks
