GADNR Hosts Coyote Killing Contest
By George
COBB COUNTY, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division is introducing the Georgia Coyote Challenge to encourage the taking of coyotes between March and August.
For each coyote killed, up to five a month, hunters and trappers will earn an entry into a monthly drawing for a lifetime license, or equal credit for the purchase of hunting/fishing licenses.
Scientific research suggests that removal of coyotes during the spring and summer is the most advantageous time to reduce the impact of predators on native wildlife.
The DNR wants to encourage coyote removal efforts during that period.
As someone that lives in Cobb County, GA (and an avid hunter) I’m proud to say that I am 100% behind this initiative.
Coyotes are a major issue here.
Not only do the decimate the fawn population, they are attacking pets and people.
I will be doing my part this year to reduce the coyote population (and try to win that lifetime license), how about you?
