When armed intruders put a gun to the homeowner’s head, her son was able to successfully defend her life.

Police say the residence in the Pine Hills neighborhood of Orange County, Florida was the scene of a terrifying home invasion Tuesday morning, but thanks to the quick thinking and accurate shooting skills of the homeowner’s son, two violent criminals are off the streets.

Two men in their early 20s broke into a home on Perrine Drive shortly after 10:45 a.m. and pointed a gun at the homeowner’s head while making demands, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Jane Watrel said.

“One of them held a gun to her hear and made demands. I don’t know what those demands are,” said Watrel.

But the homeowner’s son was in the house at the time and was able to make it to a back bedroom to retrieve a firearm. He then swiftly and accurately shot both of the intruders, saving his mother’s life.

Investigators said the body of one of the intruders, later identified as 24-year-old Racheed Briggs, was found lying in the front yard of the home, but the other man was able to make it to Winter Park Memorial Hospital.
