Devastating details about the way law enforcement officials handled the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Feb. 14 are beginning to emerge, and the reports aren’t good. Some are calling it the most preventable mass shooting in U.S. history due to disturbing phone calls and warnings made prior to the shooting spree and the killer’s alarming pattern of violent behavior.

Failure to act

The most calamitous seems to be law enforcement’s complete failure to not only heed the warning signs that came directly from the killer himself and those closest to him, but their complete failure to effectively respond and protect students as gunshots rang out.

Preventing EMTs from entering school

The latest disturbing report comes from a first responder who told WSVN-TV the entire response from authorities was completely bungled.

“Everything I was trained on mass casualty events says they did the wrong thing,” he said. “You don’t wait for the scene to be cleared. You go in immediately armed. Retrieve the victims. You can’t leave the victims laying there.”
