FL School Placed On Lockdown Over Civil War Rifle
By Beth Baumann
At approximately 9 a.m. local time, Braden River Middle School and Braden River Elementary School in Bradenton, Florida was placed on lockdown for one of the most… unique reasons possible.
Apparently, a middle teacher decided to bring a Civil War rifle to the school as part of his history lesson, something he has done over the last few years. Someone spotted the rifle and immediately called 9-1-1.

Because the middle school is in close proximity to the elementary school, both schools were placed on lockdown while authorities investigated.
The Manatee Sheriff’s Department eventually removed the lockdown after discovering the teacher brought the firearm on campus for a history lesson.

Parents and students who reported the sight were given two thumbs up for saying something they thought was suspicious.
