US Border Patrol, Glock Gen 5 Pistols, Duty Handgun

Tuesday afternoon we broke news that the U.S. Customs and Border Protection selected three Glock 9mm pistols as its new standard duty pistol, replacing the .40 S&W HK P2000. Amongst the three Glocks selected were the Glock 19, Glock 26 and mysterious Glock 47. Yes, you’re reading that correctly: the G47.

We double-checked to make sure we hadn’t missed a Glock release in recent months. We didn’t. Turns out Glock developed the G47 specifically for the CBP contract.

What We Know About the Glock 47

The most important detail about the new G47 is this: You can’t have one. Sorry to play spoiler, but when we said Glock created the pistol for the CBP, we meant it. It’s not available to consumers. It even has “DHS CBP” engraved on the side of the slide.

“Well that sucks,” you probably just said. It does. But we still scored some details on the G47, as we’re sure your interest is piqued at what the CBP wanted.
