Facebook Post Forces Texas Applebees to Change It’s No Gun Policy

The open carry law went into effect in Texas on January 1st, and contrary to what anti-protectionists thought, things have gone rather smoothly. Well, except for some businesses that have reserved their right to ban all guns from their property.

One Applebees in Copperas Cove decided to enact a policy that banned all open carry and concealed carry weapons from its restaurant.

And because a gun owner used his Facebook page to exclaim his resolve to find other places to eat the restaurant decided to change its policy

The Cove Applebee’s at 2525 East U.S. 190 allowed neither concealed nor openly carried handguns until Copperas Cove Mayor Pro-Tem Kirby Lack’s post about the policy on his personal Facebook page.

Lack said nearly 200 of his friends indicated they would consider taking their restaurant business elsewhere.

“My personal concern is when I read it in the newspaper that they had no concealed carry or open carry. That means I can’t go there because I’m not going to go in there without one so I thought the best thing to do was go and talk to the manager,” he said.
