The Crime Prevention and Research Center has released a new report, and it shows us that more people than ever in the US are carrying firearms.

The findings were reported this week, and show an overall 8% growth on the number of concealed carry permits issued in the last year.

And overall, excluding the gun control happy states California and New York, a whopping 8.75% of adult Americans have a permit to carry.

This isn’t the full picture of how many people in the US carry firearms, as 16 states allow permitless carry. While some choose to get their state permit in order to carry in other states, there is no doubt that many choose to go permitless.

Here are some highlights from their report, as shown on their website;

  • Last year, the number of permit holders continued to grow by about 1.4 million. Despite 16 states where a permit isn’t required and expectations that permits were primarily driven by fears of Democratic presidencies, the growth in permits has continued at a similar pace after the November 2016 election.
