Dan Wesson just announced its newest pistol offering for 2020. And it’s sure to turn some heads. The Dan Wesson DWX combines the single-action fire control group of a Dan Wesson 1911 and combines it with the ergonomics and capacity of a CZ 75 platform.

“It started as an experiment—a grand melding of Dan Wesson and CZ pistols,” reads a statement on the Dan Wesson website. “Borrowing the crisp single-action fire control group of the DW 1911 and combining it with the ergonomics and capacity of a CZ, the resulting pistol emerged as something great.”

Though the project began as a competition gun, the DWX evolved into both full-size and compact variants. The DWX features the easy take-down of the hammer-fired CZ, along with a match-grade, bushingless barrel system.

Double-stack magazines boost capacity to 19+1 with flush bases. Dan Wesson says many standard 1911 parts will enable customization and further tuning. The sighting system employs the 1911-style front sight dovetail, further capitalizing on that massive aftermarket. Meanwhile, the rear sight utilizes a CZ Shadow 2 rear cut.
