Texas authorities captured a man late Tuesday accused of gunning down two cops and a security guard at a Home Depot in Dallas just hours earlier.
Dallas Police Chief U. Renee Hall told reporters 29-year-old Armando Juarez faces attempted capital murder charges after he opened fire on two cops as they escorted him from the store Tuesday afternoon. Officer Rogelio Santander died from his injuries Wednesday morning, Hall said. Officer Crystal Almeida and Scott Painter, a loss prevention officer for Home Depot, remain in critical condition.

We can confirm that two @DallasPD officers have been shot and critically wounded. We will provide updates as we get them. Please pray for our officers and their families.

It’s unclear why Home Depot employees wanted Juarez removed from the store in North Dallas. After the shooting, he evaded law enforcement for more than six hours until residents spotted his white pick-up truck in the uptown section of the city. He led authorities on a high speed chase, firing from the vehicle as he fled.
