WASHINGTON, D.C. — I know that this may come as a shock to some of you, but the people running Washington D.C. don’t feel that laws and court orders apply to them. As shocking as this may be to us, it is simply business as usual in our nation’s capital.

It is common knowledge that D.C. has been in a bitter struggle to maintain their uber-strict firearms laws. Multiple citizens have sued the city on the grounds that the laws infringe upon the Second Amendment, which is explicitly prohibited by the Bill of Rights. D.C. has lost almost all of these fights, but the Mayor and the chief of police refuse to follow court orders.

Most recently Judge Frederick Scullin issued a ruling that D.C. couldn’t enforce a provision of their gun control package that allowed the chief of police the right to decide who could have a carry permit and who couldn’t. It makes sense to everyone outside of the Beltway that an un-elected official should not be the final arbiter of who gets to practice their constitutional rights and who doesn’t.
