New York is always listed among the most anti-gun states in the nation and for good reason. The state’s heavily influenced by the politics of the Big Apple, which skews the entire state leftward. That means it’s far more likely to be dominated by gun control advocates than by ordinary Americans who are proud of their Second Amendment heritage.

However, it’s also long been said that if you leave the urban confines in New York, you’ll find plenty of red state ideals being quite popular. That includes the right to keep and bear arms.

In Wyoming County, the Board of Supervisors has made their opinions of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s war against the Second Amendment known.

As a rural area, Wyoming County has its share of hunters and firearms enthusiasts.

The NY SAFE Act gun control law met opposition from a wide swath of area residents when it was approved six years ago and Second Amendment rights continue to be a concern for them, which was part of why the county’s Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved a resolution titled “Opposing Infringements on the Rights of Legitimate Firearm Owners.”
