Unlike our neighbor Vermont, New Hampshire requires gun owners to apply for a permit if they want to carry a firearm concealed. A government official, usually the police chief, then decides whether the citizen — already a legal gun owner — is worthy of carrying that gun under his or her coat, in a purse, etc. Open carry is legal without a permit, so we are talking about simply transporting a legal firearm under cover rather than in the open. …read more
