I can’t imagine breaking into anyone’s house, I even get a little freaked out when I go into my parents’ house when they’re not there and they know I’m coming. But imagine how brave (or stupid, I guess) you’d have to be to enter someone’s house to rob them when they’re home.

Well on Friday, at approximately 11:40 a.m., a criminal in the South Collinwood neighborhood outside Cleveland must have been feeling pretty brave because he broke into a home in the 700 block of East 160th Street. But once he encountered the homeowner, he discovered he’s not so brave after all.

Eddie Henderson III, 26, heard the suspect opening drawers in his home, he said in a phone interview.

Henderson said he grabbed his pistol and went downstairs. He saw a man standing in the hallway. Henderson said he shot the man once in the shoulder.

The robber ran into Henderson’s bathroom and locked the door. Henderson said he stood outside the door and fired several gunshots into the door.

Henderson said the robber yelled out: “Please don’t shoot, please don’t shoot. I’m sorry, I didn’t know it was you.”
