SIOUX CITY, SOUTH DAKOTA — An alleged carjacker violently attacked the driver of a car parked out in front of the Red Roof Inn. The couple were sitting in their car when a stranger opened the door and began punching the driver repeatedly.

According to Keloland Television, the driver of the vehicle was a concealed carrier. He was able to draw his handgun and shoot his assailant twice at close range. The assailant collapsed and was taken to a nearby hospital. Police say that the suspect is expected to recover and will face robbery charges.

“A concealed weapon carry, obviously that is anyone’s choice to decide if they want to do that. In this case, it certainly worked out well for the victim. He was able to defend himself and his property. He wasn’t trying to chase after the guy or do anything other than trying to stop that beating from happening,” Sioux Falls police officer Sam Clemens said.

Clemens went on to admonish the fact that the concealed carrier did not pursue the suspect or in any way deviate from defending his own life while under attack. Police say that it will be highly unlikely for the driver …Read the Rest
