The UAE gun maker, by way of Idaho, Caracal USA showcased a newish competition variant mixed in with other rifle and pistol designs at SHOT Show in Las Vegas last week.
Caracal had on display the CAR814 A2 Comp model equipped with a .223 Wylde chamber — another way it can safely fire .223 Remington or 5.56 NATO cartridges.
The AR design operates using a direct impingement system. The rifle features an 18-inch Proof Research carbon fiber barrel, a Geissele Super 3-Gun trigger, and a XMR extended magazine release. Other Caracal competition models in 5.56 were made available last year as well.

At the booth, the gun maker also showed off last year’s favorites, the CAR814 A2 and the CAR816 A2, both rifles chambered in 5.56 NATO. Although they look similar, they’re very different rifles.
