ANDERSON COUNTY, TEXAS — When a homeowner heard someone trying to break in at 2:30 p.m., he got his gun and prepared to defend himself. The burglar broke in and, when he did, he encountered a hail of gunfire from the occupant. Miraculously, the suspect survived.

But it doesn’t end there, folks. Not by a mile. Or, well, maybe a driveway.

The burglar immediately fled and dove into his getaway vehicle. The driver, just as freaked out as the burglar, smashed his car to heck and back trying to get away from the scene of the crime.

“While fleeing the property, the driver of the car in question wrecked the car, causing extensive damaged to the front grill, the headlight, hood, the passenger door and back fender,” said Sheriff Greg Taylor.

Most surprising was that a man could breach the doorway of another man’s house and withstand a hail of gun fire without taking a scratch. He may have taken a hit or two and just bolted out of sheer adrenaline. That does happen.
