FAYETTEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA — Fayetteville police confirmed that a burglar was taken into the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with a non-life threatening gunshot wound after a homeowner caught him breaking into his home.

According to WNCN, the burglary happened at approximately 4:45 a.m. on a weekend. This just goes to show that a homeowner has to be prepared at all hours of the day and night to potentially deal with those who wish to break into his home.

We’ve covered quite a few home invasions in the Fayetteville area as it seems to be a veritable hot bed for burglaries and robberies. Fayetteville plays host city to major Army and Air Force installations yet it seems to be constantly plagued by property crimes and home invasions. In 2013, the city of Fayetteville ranked as one of the worst crime-ridden cities in the United States according to 2012 FBI crime statistics.
