(ABC) – The sheriff’s office said Monday that they were searching for 41-year-old Markeith Lloyd in an area of northwest metro Orlando.

The Orlando Police Department identified Lloyd as the suspect in the shooting Monday morning of the Orlando police officer near a Wal-Mart store.

During the massive manhunt, one of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office motorcycle deputies was struck by a vehicle and later died at the hospital.

There are reports that Loyd was wearing a security uniform and fired multiple shots at the officer.

According to WFTV in Orlando, Loyd has been on the run since the December 13 shooting death of his 24-year-old pregnant girlfriend.

Court records show that Loyd has been arrested in Orange County 20 times since 1994.
