A Redding, CA man tried to slap a gun away from a neighbor as they argued Sunday morning before being shot in the foot.

Officers with the Redding Police Department were in the process of responding to a disturbance call in the 3500 block of Snavely Drive when they heard a single gunshot coming from the direction of the neighbors’ homes. Police say the men, who are neighbors, got into an argument after one of them assaulted the other with a knife.

Prior to the shooting, William H. Head, 43, had allegedly physically assaulted his neighbor with a knife and the neighbor, fearing for his safety, armed himself with a gun for protection.

According to the Redding Police Department, the two men had been arguingjust before 9:30 a.m. when Head attempted to slap the gun away from his neighbor at which point the gun fired, striking Head in the foot, said Cpl. Sam Llamas.

Police found Head nearby suffering from a gunshot wound to his foot. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and upon his release, was arrested on the suspicion of stalking, assault with a deadly weapon, and making a terrorist threat before being booked into the Shasta …Read the Rest
