Bill to Increase Hunting License Fees Up for Senate Vote in Oregon

Fairfax, VA -(AmmoLand.com)- Yesterday, the Oregon Senate voted on Senate Bill 247, legislation which would incrementally increase hunting, angling and fishing licensing fees over a six year period.

These increases are an attempt to compensate for budget short falls and less money being appropriated to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife from the general fund. Hunters have been, and continue to be, among the foremost supporters of sound wildlife management and conservation practices in the United States.

These increases, along with decreased opportunities, discourage a number of sportsmen across Oregon by placing heavy financial burdens on hunters and anglers. Having fewer hunters afield can be disastrous for wildlife populations, the economy, conservation, agency funding and America’s hunting heritage.
