LINCOLN, Neb. -(Ammoland.com)- Caleb Becker of the Expect the X homeschool team of Lincoln set a state record high score in the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) state tournament on March 25 at Speedway Sporting Village in Lincoln.

Becker scored 292 out of a possible 300 points for the overall high score of the meet. Colleen Cerise of Omaha’s Mater Dei Academy had the high female score of 281.

In team competition, Lincoln’s Pound Middle School scored 3,114 points to tie a middle school record it set in 2016.

The 2017 event, the 12th in Nebraska, saw a record 802 registered archers and 2,000 spectators. Archers shot 15 arrows at targets from 10 meters and 15 arrows from 15 meters. Not counting shoot-outs and fun shoots, 32,080 arrows were shot at targets during the competition.

NASP is an in-school curriculum covering target archery for students in grades 4-12. In Nebraska, 272 schools have NASP as part of their physical education curriculum, and 35,000 students participate each school year. The state tournament is the largest …Read the Rest
