Bass Pro Shops ranks as the second fastest growing retailer in America this year, according to a new report from the National Retail Federation.
The NRF’s “Hot 100” placed the outdoor retailer ahead of Amazon, Wayfair and Petsmart in its annual list published earlier this month. Bass Pro Shops — and it’s recently-acquired competitor, Cabela’s — raked in $7.3 billion in nationwide sales in 2017. Store fronts also exploded 87 percent, totaling 181 locations, according to the report.
David Marcotte, senior vice president of Kantar Consulting, said the wide-ranging pursuits of the retailer’s typical customers fuels its growth. “Each has a very widespread set of requirements for participation, from $20 shoes to $20,000 boats,” he said. “Given this, retailers have a great amount of space to create value for nearly all shopper segments.”
“Our company is guided by the principles of genuinely friendly service and quality products and experiences offered at an exceptional value each and every time,” said Bass Pro Shops CEO Johnny Morris. “This recognition is a tribute to all of our remarkable and passionate outfitters who work hard every day to make sure every customer experience is a positive one.”
