Ashdown Doubles up in Shooting Sports Regional
Jacksonville, AR -(AmmoLand.com)- Ashdown Shooting Sports claimed first place in both Junior and Senior divisions during Friday’s and Saturday’s regional qualifier of the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program at the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation Shooting Sports Complex in Jacksonville.
Ashdown Junior Squad 1 shot an impressive 117 targets out of 125 possible on Friday to claim a 12-point win over the nearest competitor, the Ricebirds from Stuttgart Youth Shooting Sports. Saturday’s competition was much closer, with Ashdown’s Senior Squad 2 breaking 235 clays, beating Springhill Trap Team’s Senior 1 squad by only three points.
Five-person squads compete during each AYSSP event, with each junior high division athlete shooting at 25 clays and each senior high division athlete shooting at 50 clays. Logan Russell from Ashdown accomplished a perfect score during Friday’s Junior High Competition, earning him an invitation to the Champion of Champions event during the state competition.
The top 16 teams in each division will compete at the AYSSP State Championship, June 3-4, against 48 other regional qualifiers. All student athletes who shoot perfect scores also will be invited to shoot in …Read the Rest
