A man in his 60’s, who visits a certain Starbucks every morning for coffee, is credited with saving the life of an employee who found herself being attacked and beaten by a man she didn’t even know while working one day.

It all began while [Shelby] Hamilton was working an early morning shift at the coffee shop near 3900 South and 900 East Thursday morning. Hamilton was standing behind the counter when a “haggard-looking” man entered, she said.

Instead of coming to the register to order, the man came behind the counter and asked Hamilton if she knew who he was. When she replied that she didn’t, he became angry and began beating her with his fists, she said.

The beating lasted for what seemed an eternity, and the man then picked up a metal bucket and hit her in the side of the head with it. Co-workers were stunned and apparently in shock, and took no action to help Hamilton.

It wasn’t until a co-worker began yelling for help that the 60’s-year-old customer stepped up to the plate and did what he could to help.
