Arkansas Open Carrier Convicted

An Arkansas man who argued that a revision to Arkansas law now permitted the open carry of handguns had his day in court… and lost.

Richard Chambless was arrested for carrying a gun into a restaurant. He was found guilty Tuesday on charges of carrying a weapon and disorderly conduct.

He was ordered to pay a $240 fine for the disorderly conduct charge.

On the weapon carrying charge, he was sentenced to 15 days in jail, plus one year of probation, and he also must pay a $2,160 fine.

Chambless’ attorney says they will appeal the judge’s decision.

Caleb Taylor of The Arkansas Project sat through the trial and took notes, and didn’t portray the court in a very favorable light.

The appeal should be interesting.
