arizona bill creates tax credit for those who apply for concealed carry permits

A new measure sponsored by the state House Majority Leader in Arizona would offer a tax credit to those who seek to obtain a concealed carry permit in the state.

The state currently charges $60 for a permit and $43 for renewals but the bill proposes a tax credit of $80 which would offset the cost, minus training.

According to kjzz,com, law makers in the state feel it will help encourage and increase public safety with more responsible citizens being armed.

House Majority Leader Steve Montenegro, R-Avondale, wants to spur more people to get the permits. His legislation would allow the cost of the required four-hour permit class to be claimed as a dollar-for-dollar credit against what’s owed on income taxes, up to $80. He said it promotes safety.
