The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court had held that stun guns — which for our purposes includes both Tasers and contact stun guns — aren’t protected by the Second Amendment, because they fall within the exclusion for “dangerous and unusual weapons.” The Michigan Court of Appeals had held in 2012 that stun guns are protected by the Second Amendment, and that the Michigan stun gun ban was unconstitutional. And the Connecticut Supreme Court held last year that the Second Amendment protects dirk knives and police batons, and its logic suggests that stun guns are protected, too. …read more
