DeKalb, Illinois – J.W. and J.D. team up for Episode 161 of the AR-15 Podcast! For those attending the NRA event, Jake Chaland of Firearms Radio Network will be there for a listener meetup. Jake has even offered to buy a drink for any of the FRN listeners that can meet his challenge–tune in to find out what it is.

This week, the pair discuss politics and legislation that affect (or can affect) the modern sporting rifle. They begin with some of the modern history of gun control in the United States, starting with the Gun Control Act of 1968. This Act is what established the FFL system and required serial numbers for all firearms. Naturally, discussion turns next to the the 1986 Firearm Owners’ Protection Act which revised many key provisions of the ‘68 statutes. Finally, they bring us current with the last major anti-gun legislation with the Clinton-era Assault Weapons Ban. In closing, they offer ponder recent attempts to revive the AWB and the political climate on guns in America.

The AR-15 Podcast encourages listener feedback. So write into the hosts if there is something you’d like to hear more about, write in with show topic suggestions.
