After a hell of a long fight, concealed carry was finally legalized in the Land o’ Lincoln back in 2013. It’s not quite as easy to get a permission slip in Illinois as it is in other states — the powers that be made darn sure of that — but despite their best efforts to make it difficult and time-consuming, the state has close to 300,000 CCL holders now.

And you know what that means? More people who are legally able to bear arms to defend themselves, their families, and sometimes even the police from those who would do them harm.

The latest example comes from Chicago’s northwest side. As the Sun-Times reports, a 17-year-old tried to draw down (yes, that’s illegal) on a man in the city’s Cragin neighborhood on Wednesday

At 8:30 a.m., the 17-year-old boy and 42-year-old man were arguing in the 4900 block of West Fullerton, according to Chicago police. The boy got out of his vehicle and made threats at the man while trying to yank a handgun from the waistband of his pants, witnesses told police.
