America Seeks to Normalize Relations with Cuba

President Barrack Obama announced that he has instructed Secretary of State John Kerry to begin a dialog with Cuban officials to reestablish political relations. Political relations with Cuba have been non-existent since the 1960s when Fidel Castro became the dictator via a violent revolution. The sanctions where put in place by Kennedy and have never been lifted.
This signals a huge step forward as the United States is one of the only countries left without any diplomatic ties to Havana. Many Cuban-Americans are outraged, as to be expected. Many of them lived through the revolution and had their …read more
