ABC Poll Shows Majority of Americans Oppose Assault Weapons Ban, 20 Year High

We have a president that loves to give speeches. And after any shooting he rushes to blame gun owners and the NRA instead of the ones who actually carried out the act. Well, it looks like Americans are tired of speeches and have little trust in gun control to make them feel safer.

After 20 years of polling on this issue, the ABC News/Washington Post poll has found that more Americans than ever before are against the so-called “assault weapons” ban. In fact, it’s now a majority of Americans that oppose the ban.

According to ABC News, American citizens have little trust in the government to be able to stop “lone-wolf” attacks and would rather have an armed citizenry to be able to stop terrorist attacks.

Just 45 percent in this national survey favor an assault weapons ban, down 11 percentage points from an ABC/Post poll in 2013 and down from a peak of 80 percent in 1994. Fifty-three percent oppose such a ban, the most on record.
