SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN — Police are currently investigating a home invasion that ended in a shooting yesterday around 2 a.m. The homeowner, 70 year-old Ronald Dykes, had just finished boarding up a window that had been broken into in April. Yesterday, another window was broken as an intruder burst through it.

Dykes had probably learned his lesson from the break-in that he experienced in April, because this time, he was armed and ready. He was woken from his sleep to witness a man standing at his window, shining a light through it, and then broke through the window, climbing inside. Dykes quickly acted. He reached for his gun and successfully shot the intruder twice. Dykes did not see enough of the criminal to identify him before the man stumbled back out of the window, ran to a dark colored car, and fled.

Coincidentally (not really), a man checked himself into a nearby hospital with two gunshot wounds shortly after the incident. The man was confronted by police and identified as 44-year old Jason Scott McClellan. At this time, he remains hospitalized but is expected to make a full recovery.
