With aspirations to one day be a police officer himself, 7-year-old Zachary Becerra has made it his mission to thank each and every member of the New York Police Department (NYPD) for their heroic service.

“I started with 50 cards. We went to our precinct at their Community Council Meeting and I thought that was going to be it,” Zachary’s mom Rosa Ortiz told The New York Post. “But then he said, ‘Mommy, I want to go to every precinct.’”

Since then, every Saturday – Ortiz’s only day off from her job as a paralegal – is spent stopping by at least one precinct. She sets up the meetings with each precinct’s community affairs office and lets them know about her son’s mission to thank every member of the NYPD.

… The mother-son duo has already been to more than 50 precincts across the city including seven transit units, two housing units and 13 specialty units.

“We just want to let them know we appreciate what they do. Their job is not an easy job,” Ortiz told The Post. “It’s just a thank you.”
