TYLER, TX — A pair of men around Tyler, Texas, got into an argument earlier this month that resulted in a travel from the county to the city and a gunfight that left one in the hospital, and the other behind bars.

As the Tyler Morning Telegraph reports:

The Tyler Police Department has identified the men involved in a Thursday night shooting. Police said Dustin Massey, 39, of Tyler and Corey Lee McDaniel, 25, of Tyler got into an argument in the county and came into the city limits, according to a department news release.

The news release said the argument ended when both men exchanged about 15 rounds of gunfire in the parking lot of a gas station on East Erwin Street and Loop 323. Police were called to the scene about 8:24 p.m.

Investigators determined McDaniel was the aggressor in the shooting and Massey acted in self-defense, according to police. The department said investigators obtained an arrest warrant for McDaniel.

McDaniel was taken into custody about 2:30 a.m. and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Massey remains in the hospital and is in stable condition.
