chicago sees 12 shootings the day obama calls for gun control

Chicago is not only President Obama’s old stomping grounds, but it’s also constantly used by gun control supporters as an example of gun control laws stopping gun violence.

The only problem is that the strictest gun laws in the country have not stopped gun violence. In fact, an argument can be made that they have made it worse, as more law abiding citizens are discouraged from owning firearms.

And on the very day that President Obama gave his speech calling for more “gun safety” regulations (which is code for more gun control laws) 12 people were shot in the gun control haven of Chicago.

In his tear-filled speech Obama admitted that his hometown had issues with gun violence, but none of his proposals would actually stop criminals who are breaking the law in the first place to get their guns.

According to kxlf.com,

In the first five days of 2016, police in Chicago say shootings are already up more than 176% — 47 compared with 17 in 2015. Ten of this year’s shootings were homicides.

Illinois has some of the nation’s strictest gun-control laws, and authorities are continuously pulling guns off the streets, but these measures seem to do little to end the violence. …Read the Rest
