This past weekend proved to be deadly for bad guys in the State of Utah. Some of you may be aware that Utah has some of the most pro-gun, pro-self-defense laws in the country. I teach concealed carry permit classes there, so I am intimately versed in Utah law and how it is applied. Because of this knowledge I feel lucky to live in this state versus Maryland, California, New York, or Illinois.

And this morning, I’m sure that there are several other people feeling just as lucky as they used Utah laws to save their lives and the lives of others.

Two incidents transpired in Utah County over the weekend. The first happened Saturday morning in the parking lot of a popular grocery store in Orem, Utah. A yet-to-be-identified male, 31 years old, was sitting in his car when he heard a woman screaming for help from a nearby car. The male exited his car to see what was transpiring. What he ran into was a the 27 year-old yet-to-be-identified male attempting to car jack a Mercedes SUV. The good Samaritan drew his handgun and told the criminal to stop.
