IWI US parts ways with its original Tavor SAR, with the company announcing it will begin phasing out production of the model in favor of the newer X95 design.
“The market has spoken and it prefers the Tavor X95,” Michael Kassnar, VP of Sales & Marketing for IWI US, said in a press release. “We will phase out Tavor SAR production over the next few months and concentrate on our X95, along with our recently announced Tavor 7, for the future.”
The X95, announced in 2016, offers an updated take on the SAR design boasting a new fire control pack  with a 5- to 6-pound trigger pull, repositioned ambidextrous mag release and Picatinny rails at various positions. In addition, IWI moved the charging handle closer to the shooter’s center mass and provided shooters with a modular Tavor style pistol grip that can be swapped with an optional standard grip and traditional trigger guard.
The X95 is available in 5.56 NATO with 16.5-inch and 18.5-inch barrel for right and left handed users, a 9mm chambered 17-inch model and a .300
