Henrico County Virginia Police were called to a Henrico home Thursday night after the homeowner reported he had traded gunfire with an armed intruder in his house.

WTVR reported:

Police said the incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. in the 7700 block of Patterson Ave. home. When police arrived they noticed a sign of forced entry on a side door of the home.

The resident of the home said during the home invasion the suspect fired a shot at him. The man said he returned fire, but the suspect got away in a beige Ford Crown Victoria.

Forensic units responded to the scene and police confirmed shell casings were found inside the home.

There was no additional suspect description at this time, but police said there could be more than one suspect in this case.

Police sources told CBS 6, while investigators were canvassing the scene they found something suspicious. Drugs and drug paraphernalia were recovered from the scene after a search warrant was issued.

Anyone with information about the crime can call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
